Congratulations!
You have discovered the electronic resource for Scouts and Parents of Troop 275. We serve the youth and community of Ames, Iowa. Our monthly newsletter, calendar of events, contact information, library of forms, and links to other Scouting related sites are available here at www.Troop275.com.
Youth Leadership:
Troop 275 is boy run. Our Senior Patrol Leader and Patrol Leaders decide our meeting agenda and then lead the Troop as they rollout these plans at our Scout meetings using the Methods of Scouting. Of course there are always two or more Scoutmasters/Assistant Scoutmasters to guide and mentor our youth leadership corps during meetings and activities.
Outdoor Activity:
Since Boy Scouting is designed to take place outdoors, Troop 275 goes camping approximately once a month. It is in the outdoors that Scouts share responsibilities and learn to live with each other. It is here that the skills and activities practiced at troop meetings come alive with purpose. The outdoors is the laboratory for Scouts to learn ecology and practice conservation of nature's resources using "Leave No Trace" methodology.
High Adventure:
Typically, we plan for at least one "High Adventure" activity per year. These activities are planned a year or two in advance and are aimed at our older scouts, i.e. boys at least First Class in Rank and 13-18 years old.
Our troop has two certified climbing instructors which allows us to safely conduct rock climbing and rapelling activities as requested by our youth. Generally, we have at least one rock/wall climbing campout separate from our main High Adventure activity.
Below is a list of Troop 275 High Adventure activities:
When & Where:
Our Troop meets Monday nights from 7:00PM until 8:30PM at 2900 Hoover Avenue. If you are new to Scouting and would like to see what we are about, please stop by and check us out! (A Boy Scout Application is available for download by clicking here.)

If you have questions or comments about Troop 275 either contact one of our adult scout leaders, or subscribe to our "info" e-mailing list.
